fresnel light

The fresnel light divides and scatters light through glasslike 3D printed coils. As if ripples in water, the concentric design sees glittering bands pulsate outwards from a central steel ball.

Built up in layers, the fresnel is extruded from hot ribbons of recycled plastic. Sourced from rooftop windows, safety glasses, and industrial chocolate moulds, this plastic lends uncommon strength and transparency.

Recycled plastic, much like wood, carries indicators of its history. Based on the previous life of our plastic, the transparent material can appreal cool or warm. This specific tint is not under our control--the joy in granting material a second life.
